New Girl

I have another show to rave about…New Girl.

I watched the first episode on TV when it first came out over here, thought it was over-the-top, and didn’t watch again, but this weekend I needed something light and fun to lift me up so I thought i’d give it another shot, and I got hooked.

I watched the whole first 19 episodes in one sitting, I just couldn’t get enough and I think this is going to be a go-to for when I need that lift. It’s like a good Crusie book but in TV format.

I love Jess, mainly because there is so much about her that makes me go ‘OMG that’s me!’ and I absolutely love the sense of community in the show, they’ve all got each others backs no matter what. There also has not been an episode yet where...

Photo Shoot

We went to Sp's portrait session.

I expected to get one of the photogs who work for the Main Photographer under whose name the business operates. Instead, the Pea was snapped by the Main Photographer himself. I was gleeful, having admired many of his images online.

Main Photographer (hereafter MP) had a big new studio that was nice and toasty warm for my pea (drizzly day in the 40s and I had picked out a tutu and a sunsuit for her pics). He didn't try to mess with her himself but wisely had me place her where and how he specified.

But... (you knew it was coming...there's a however here) MP had the child-rapport and general personality of a socially awkward bridge troll.

MP's attempts to elicit a smile from SP were as follows:

more hikes, a long drive and teeth

Here it is Thursday, so I didn’t tell you about Tuesday or Wednesday’s hikes. And I know you have been checking here on a near hourly basis to hear about them. Right? Right?

Tuesday’s hike was from Bass Lake up to the Cone Manor House where we started Monday’s hike. It was similar in that it was about 2.5 miles up switchbacks and then all the way back down. Here’s the house: and here’s the view from the front porch. Wouldn’t that be an awesome view to have right outside your front door? If you look carefully, you can see the lake way, way down. If you go to the previous post here, you can find the links to the house which is now a park site and Moses Cone, the man.

Wednesday we hiked in 46 degrees (Fahrenheit) and 25 mile an hour...

RT Convention

This week is the RT Booklover’s Convention. For those of you who are unaware, it’s a huge conference and convention geared toward bringing readers and authors together. I’ve never gone before, but since it’s practically in my backyard this year, I thought I should go. The convention itself runs nearly the whole week, straight into the weekend. There are themed parties every night and from what I understand, much craziness.

This is what makes conferences hard for me.

I am a true introvert. This doesn’t just mean that I tend to be shy or quiet, although that is often true. It means that I need space and alone time to recharge. Surrounding myself with hundreds of people, even...

Taking Care of Myself

Hi, All,

Checking in from RT.  I’d just written a full post but, unfortunately, the hotel Internet connection ran out in the middle and the draft didn’t save.  I have to run out now before I can rewrite it, but all is well and I’m taking care of myself amid the fun mayhem that is this convention.

Thanks for all of your comments.  I’ve been reading them on my phone.  I can feel the support and it makes me smile.

Hope you’re all doing well!
